Do I need a qualified electrician to fit a light in the UK?
For a like-for-like light swap at an existing wiring point a competent person can legally do the work, but a qualified electrician is safest - especially in older homes. Every TaskMan electrician works to BS 7671 (18th Edition) and tests each fitting before leaving. New circuits, or any electrical work in a bathroom or outdoors, is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations and is always carried out by a certified electrician.
